2003 - Present

Present series of large format collages incorporating techniques using new materials for major solo exhibition, Gallery In The Field, Brandon, VT.
Begin collaboration with Web designer Margaret Jewett of San Jose, CA.
Establish M Castano Art LLC following completion of Women’s Small Business Program, Mercy Center, Burlington, VT.
Complete one month USA cross country photographic journey focusing on recording landscapes, national parks, local architecture, and ports.
Attend Cone Editions Press, the Complete Digital Workflow, with Larry Danque, Topsham, VT
Join Advisory Board, VT Department of Human Services.
Begin specialized training in Adobe, Vermont Panurgy Corporation, Multimedia, Web Design and Graphics, Burlington, VT
Partner with marketing entrepreneur Linda Simmons of Boise, ID, launch M Castano Art LLP.
Continue works on paper; combine printmaking, Chinese calligraphy, digital imaging, and painting.

1990 - 2000

Work with CT State Department of Education developing curriculum for Art, Science, and Technology.
Create curriculum for Architectural Resources Center, New Haven, CT. (Art and Technology).
Begin new work based on mathematical forms, architecture, and patterns using digital imaging, printmaking techniques, and collage.
Invited to speak at “Artists Talk on Art,” Soho Photo Gallery, New York.
Help organizing first major conference on artists using the WWW, Cooper Union, NY.
Attend ARTEC International Symposium on Art and Science, Nagoya, Japan.
Return to China for three weeks concentrating on digital photography with a focus on architecture, textiles, and  iconography
Influenced by Lori Anderson and visual and performing artists using , science, and technology.
Attend MIT conference, met Christo, and Roger Melina, Executive Editor of “Leonardo”, astrophysicist, and former director of the Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille.

Attend two year Museum Leadership Program (Bank Street College NYC) and begin work developing interactive CD, and curriculum focusing on students with special needs.

Co-produce and edit promotional piece, “The Polarized Sculpture of J Castano” using Avid software, FRAX, San Jose, CA.

Design workshops for families and the public in conjunction with major exhibits, Yale University Art Gallery.
Present workshop for artists on Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College.
Create first digital images at Kodak Center for Creative Imaging, Camden, ME.
Travel to Asia, live and work at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art.

Return to Italy; rekindle communication with friends and artists.

1970 - 1980

Design curriculum for Camp Frog Hollow, Middlebury, VT

Establish studio in Shoreham, Vermont on Lake Champlain, begin large format “Mathematics” print and collage series.
Suite of “Aquatic” and “Music” black and white stencils completed.
